At the heart of accreditation is completion of the development course or by the attendance of some previous course. There are many available options to completing development course namely:
On-line development
Applying for accreditation by completing the development course on-line allows landlords or agents to complete the development course in your own time (must be within first 3 months) and from the comfort of your own home or office.
Landlords must complete the landlord development course and agents must complete both the landlord development course and the agent module. At least one member of staff per office for agents must also complete the two courses.
Cost:
£60.00 landlords or agents. Additional staff of agents, £20.00 per staff
Optionally add one years subscription to the Guild of Residential Landlords for £30.00 (normally £80.00).
(£10.00 for current members of the Guild of Residential Landlords)
Key benefits:
- Convenience of on-line
- Cost effective

In the rare circumstance that there is low demand in your particular area, either arrangements will be made or alternatively, a partial refund will be provided allowing you to complete the course on-line as a last resort and it won’t have cost you the extra.

Passport from another accreditation scheme
If you are already accredited, you can passport into PRSAS for free subject to the scheme being approved. This allows your accreditation to be national (but some authorities may not approve PRSAS so please check first). You will have to agree our code of conduct and criteria of being accredited (but see below).
The passported PRSAS accreditation will run until the lower of when your other accreditation expires or a maximum of 3 years (e.g. if you have 2 years and 2 months left on your other accreditation, your PRSAS accreditation will run for two years and two months but if you have 4 years on your other accreditation, PRSAS will be for 3 years before renewal required.)
In most cases, agents will have to complete the online agent module even if already accredited elsewhere because very few provide this additional module. This will be dealt with on a case by case basis and a charge may be made in this case.

Key benefits:

Wales
Because Training for Professionals who provides the training for PRSAS also provides training for the Welsh Landlords Accreditation Scheme, we work very closely with the Wales scheme. At this moment, Wales are looking into the possibility of on-line courses but for now, they wish accreditation to be through their own scheme.
Therefore if you and your properties are in Wales, then please see the WLAS website.
If the majority of your properties are in England but maybe you have the odd one in Wales, it maybe possible for Wales to passport you from PRSAS in which case please contact us so we can discuss this.
